Sun, Beaches And Tenerife

Tenerife is Spain's most populated island, which is located within the Canary Islands, and is an excellent place to spend your holidays. The name of the Canary Islands came from Insula Canaria, "Island of the Sea Dogs" in Latin, which referred to the abundant monk seals that existed at the time of visits from the ancient Romans, the Arabs in the Middle Ages, conquerors, Spanish traders, and pirates.

The European Environmental Education Foundation awards a blue flag for those beaches that have cleanliness that meet regulated standards, such as in Playa de Las Americas. That cleanliness and safe bathing promotes visitors to swim, dive, jet ski, parasail, wind surf, sail perhaps in a catamaran, go fishing, and take part in other water sports as well as being able to go out and watch whales and dolphins.

Playa de Las Americas is also the most developed resort in the Islands with luxury four and five star hotels, several large night clubs, shopping centers, street markets, and a glitzy atmosphere.

Los Cristianos, which has a beach that connects it with Playa de Las Americas - these resorts are proud to have the world's most accessible man-made beach for those with disabilities. The promenade also has Romanesque statues, excellent restaurants with international offerings, and a large variety of shops.

Tenerife is also home to Teide, which is Spain's highest mountain and the Earth's third largest volcano. Los Gigantes (The Cliffs of the Giants) is on the western coast, and has black volcanic sand on the beach. Tenerife also has four of Spain's thirteen national parks.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital and has the highest skyscrapers (Towers of Santa Cruz), which are also the highest residential towers in Spain and definitely worth seeing when on Tenerife holidays. The Tenerife Auditorium is the best known for its modern structure in the Canary Islands.

If this is a family holiday, in Costa Adeje there is a large water park (Aqualand Costa Adeje), a Jungle Park, a Monkey Park, go-karting, and a great deal of entertainment for children at the hotels and restaurants. For adults there are also golf courses, a busy night life, casinos, and even camel rides you can go on, many of which are included in all inclusive holidays to tenerife - which are very quite economical and available all-year-round.
